Laser Hair Removal
Laser hair removal is the most popular reason patients utilize lasers for aesthetic reasons. But all lasers are not created equal, and many are not effective for the long term removal of hair, especially in certain stubborn areas such as the upper lip and neck. Benson Dermatology has years of experience with different laser machines, and we employ two different types of lasers, each one tailor-made for these two problem areas as well as the bikini area, underarms, legs, hands and arms, chest and back. For those with darker skin tones who in the past could not avail themselves of laser hair removal, we have the specific type of laser which can successfully and safely treat them as well.
Rosacea -- Red Face and Neck
Several skin conditions cause the skin of the face and neck to be red in appearance. These include rosacea, chronic sun damage, hereditary factors, and keratosis pilaris, which often reddens the cheeks of children and adults. All of these conditions are treatable by means of laser technology which targets only tiny red vessels in the skin, leaving the rest of the skin untouched. Treatments are accomplished by means of two types of Cutera laser modalities called Lasergenesis (with Cutera's 1064 nD:YAG laser, and the Limelight IPL (intense pulsed light) technology. With the aid of soothing topical gels, the procedures are virtually painless. They are usually performed a few weeks apart until the desired result is obtained. there is no "down-time."
Leg Spider Veins
Laser technology has long been applied to those unsightly veins on thighs, calves, and ankles. The lasers at Benson Dermatology are specifically made to remove both red and blue spider veins with little or no discomfort. Even on darker shades of skin the latest lasers can eliminate before your eyes these veins, often with no need for compression stockings or serious restriction in activity. Each treatment session brings tangible results, and often only one or two sessions are necessary for spider vein-free legs.
Skin Resurfacing for Wrinkles
Both fine wrinkles and some deeper ones can be successfully erased with laser resurfacing. At Benson Dermatology, Cutera's new Pearl YSGG resurfacing laser, just approved by the FDA, is in the house! It is an incredible machine which gently vaporizes awa the outer layers of skin with only topical anesthesia. The results even after only one treatment, are often amazing in both tone and texture, eliminating fine wrinkles and sunspots after two to four days of gentle peeling. The Pearl is often combined with the world famous TITAN laser which heats up the deep tissues, leading to tightening on areas of skin laxity, thus complementing the superficial resurfacing of the Pearl.
Skin Laxity -- The TITAN Laser
When facial and neck skin loses elasticity, the result is skin laxity in areas such as the forehead, cheeks, jowls, and neck. In recent years laser technology has been fine-tuned to deliver heat deeply into the skin which, in turn, causes tightening of the lax areas by generating new collagen production. After two such treatments the results are often a noticable lift in the areas treated, and sometimes a dramatic lift, giving results never before attainable other than with facelift surgery.
This deep treatment requires no anesthesia at all. It is often combined with modalities which address the skin's superficial layers, most notably the Pearl for fine wrinkles and sunspots.
